The Mount Athos (Agion Oros) Holy Mountain  (Τhe Garden of Panagias)

 

  Mount Athos is the point that unites the earth with heaven, earth with heaven and people of God.

Mount Athos is the house of Mary, is the only place on earth that glorified the Virgin Mary so much and even relentlessly.

  Tradition has it that the Virgin Mary to travel by boat, along with John the Evangelist, for Cyprus to visit Lazarus.

Suddenly, they fell into a storm and found outside Athos, then forced to disembark there to find shelter. They disembarked at the port today is the Monastery Iviron.

  When Mary stepped on Athos, she looked around her and was impressed by the beauty of the area. Then he asked her Son and our God, gave her the peninsula in order to glorify the name of there.

  Then he was heard from Heaven one voice, saying: "Let the place he clergy sauce and perivolaion  As and paradise, and yet not willing port of salvation be saved."

  The Lord in these words bequeathed this blessed place of His Mother.

Since then, the peninsula of Athos, called 'Garden of Virgin Mary'. (Perivoli tis Panagias)

   In this Blessed Garden, you feel the presence of the Lady Mary, more intense, I feel that you meet her somewhere, that somewhere there and are you going to find her.

   Monks of all ages, pray unceasingly to the Virgin Mary and her Son. Facing eyes lost in celestial drunkenness and lips whispering saying 'Holy Mother of God Save us'' and '' Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me. ''
